RESTORATION OF THE FACADE OF THE
ROYAL PORTUGUESE READING OFFICE

\"\"

An architectural gem in Rio de Janeiro.

The Royal Portuguese Reading Room, a library with a Lioz marble facade, brought by ship from the Algarves, southern Portugal, is also Brazil\’s first eclectic building, inaugurated in 1887 in the Neo-Manueline style.

In 1995, with the restoration of the facade, it was possible to bring in micro-sandblasting machines from Italy to clean the stone surfaces.

The building was inaugurated in March 1996, launching a unique and pioneering work in architectural restoration projects in Brazil.
